What We Do

One crew from the pump-out to the rebuild

All Star Restoration takes water damage calls from anywhere in the Bronx, day and night, at 646-543-2242. A leak here rarely stays in one room or involves just one person. A riser lets go upstairs, a tub overflows, a supply line splits behind a washer, and the water keeps moving after the drip stops. We handle every stage of our water damage service ourselves, so nobody has to line up a second company for the drying or the repairs.

What the job includes

  • A free inspection and a written estimate before any work starts
  • Water extraction and removal from floors, carpet and cellars
  • Moisture detection with meters and thermal imaging, inside walls and under floors
  • Taking out soaked materials that can't be saved, and nothing more
  • Structural drying with air movers and dehumidifiers
  • Drying for ceilings, hardwood floors and finished basements
  • Rebuilding the drywall, flooring, cabinets and paint we removed

Why the Bronx calls All Star

  • We check the units above, below and beside the leak, not only the one that called
  • We explain the findings in plain terms to tenants, supers and managing agents alike
  • We dry and restore instead of tearing out by default
  • Fully licensed and insured, and IICRC-certified

How a Job Runs

Step by step, from the call to the walkthrough

  • Stay clear of the power. If water has reached outlets, light fixtures or the electrical panel, keep away from them and let an electrician or the utility shut the power off.
  • You call. 646-543-2242, day or night. We're usually there 30 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the hour and traffic.
  • We inspect for free. We map the wet areas in every affected space, and the estimate costs you nothing.
  • We stop the spread. Pumps and extractors pull out standing water, and furniture and belongings get moved or blocked up off the floor.
  • We dry it. Air movers and dehumidifiers run until the readings match the dry parts of the building, and we check them on each visit.
  • We rebuild. Our own crew can put back drywall, flooring, doors and trim so the apartment is ready to live in again.
  • We walk it with you. Before we call the job done, we go through each space with you or the building's contact.

Apartment Buildings

Working with the super, the agent and the tenants

Most Bronx homes are rented, so the person who finds the water is rarely the one who signs off on repairs. We plan for that from the first visit. The super gets us into the unit above and the cellar, the managing agent or owner approves the scope, and the tenant hears what we found in their own apartment and when the crew is coming back.

In a co-op, the board or managing agent usually sets work hours, elevator use and paperwork for contractors. We follow those rules so the job keeps moving. Every affected unit gets its own moisture readings, and the building gets one record of what was wet, what was removed and when each space read dry.

Tenants with a leak from another unit can see our guide to water damage in apartments for who handles what.

Hidden Water

Finding the water you can't see

In a walk-up or elevator building, kitchens and bathrooms are stacked floor over floor on the same pipes. Water from a break runs along those lines, so the stain on the third floor may start two stories higher. We begin above the problem and work down, apartment by apartment, with meters and a thermal camera. In buildings with steam heat, a weeping radiator valve can soak a subfloor for weeks before anyone sees a puddle, and we trace those slow leaks the same way.

Call us for readings if you notice any of these after a leak:

  • Bubbling or peeling paint overhead, right under a bathroom
  • A brown ring that keeps growing after the plumber has left
  • Baseboards that swell or pull away from the wall
  • Wood boards that cup or lift near a sink, tub or radiator
  • A musty smell inside closets or under kitchen cabinets
  • Doors that start sticking in their frames

We don't call a space dry by touch. The equipment stays until the readings in the wet area match a dry part of the same building, and only then do we close up walls and rebuild.

What We Handle

Water problems we take on in the Bronx

Pick the one that fits for the details, or call and we will sort it out with you.

East Side Flood Zones

Storm water on the Sound side

Most of the borough's flood zone sits along its eastern shore. A City Planning flood risk presentation counted about 3,900 Bronx buildings in the 100-year floodplain on the preliminary maps, and placed nearly 80 percent of them in Community District 10, which takes in Throgs Neck and City Island.

If water is coming in during a storm, get everyone to a higher floor or out of the house, and stay away until it has stopped rising. When it is safe, we pump out the lower level and treat everything the water touched as contaminated. Soaked carpet, drywall and insulation come out, then the framing and slab get dried and cleaned. Our page on storm and flood cleanup goes through that work in more detail.

Where We Work

Water damage restoration across the Bronx

We provide water damage restoration in the Bronx at any hour, in every part of the borough, from the big apartment houses in the west and south to the small homes near the water on the east side. Call 646-543-2242 and we'll tell you when a crew can be at your door. Mold left behind by a leak is a Bronx mold remediation job, and water that came up a drain gets handled as sewage cleanup. The rest of what we do is on our Bronx service area page.

Questions

Answers before you call

Water is coming through my ceiling from the apartment upstairs. What should I do?

Get the super or building staff into the unit above so they can shut the water off, then call us. We check your ceiling and the apartment above it, and we share what we find with the landlord or managing agent.

Do I have to move out while the drying equipment runs?

Usually not. Most people stay home while the fans and dehumidifiers run, and we place them so walkways stay clear. If contaminated water or heavy demolition is involved, we will tell you which rooms should stay closed off.

Do you come out to City Island and Throgs Neck?

Yes, at any hour. Both sit right on the water, so after a storm we come ready to pump out lower floors and remove what the flood water soaked.

The cellar flooded around our boiler. What do you handle?

We pump out the water, clear wet debris, and dry the room and the walls around it. The boiler and burner should be checked by a licensed heating contractor before they run again, and we work around that visit.

Is the inspection free?

Yes. The inspection and the estimate cost nothing. We walk you through what is wet and what it will take before any work begins.

How do I know the walls are really dry?

We don't go by touch. We take moisture readings on every visit and compare them with a dry part of the same building. The equipment stays until those numbers match.

Your property. Our priority.

Water, fire, mold, or sewage, one call starts the recovery. We show up fast and we do not leave until it is done right.
